Sporta Tech petitions Bombay high court against show cause to levy steep GST for ‘gambling’ services

Sporta Technologies Pvt Ltd, an online fantasy sports gaming company, has filed a petition in the Bombay High Court to challenge show cause notices regarding a steep Goods and Service Tax (GST) bill. The company argues that it offers "gambling" services, which are subject to a 28% GST rate. Sporta Technologies claims that the notices lack jurisdiction and go against previous Supreme Court judgments that determined their services were games of skill rather than gambling.
