Uttarakhand cabinet okays compensation policy for affected Joshimath residents

The Uttarakhand cabinet on Wednesday gave approval to the Joshimath rehabilitation policy to provide compensation to the residents of the hill town who have been affected by land subsidence. While the state has announced compensation for houses and shops, it is still awaiting the report from the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to decide on the package for land compensation.
