Consider right of fetus to life, recall MTP order: Government to high court

The Centre has moved Delhi HC seeking a recall of an order allowing a widow to terminate her 29-week pregnancy, saying the unborn child has a fair chance of survival and the court should consider protecting the right to life of the fetus. It submitted that "feticide in this case is neither justified nor ethical as the fetus is grossly normal." The woman, who got married in February 2023, lost her husband in October after which she moved to her parents' house and got to know that she was 20 weeks pregnant.

Parliament breach probe: Narco test points Manoranjan was mastermind, say police source

A day after the five accused in the Parliament security breach were brought back to Delhi following their polygraph, narco-analysis and brain mapping tests, a police source claimed that Manoranjan D was the mastermind behind the incident. Earlier, the police had said that Lalit Jha was the mastermind behind the December 13 incident. All six accused -- Sagar Sharma, Manoranjan D, Amol Shinde, Neelam Azad, Lalit Jha and Mahesh Kumawat -- were presented before the Patiala House court on Saturday which sent them to judicial custody, police officials said.

Over 1.40 lakh overage vehicles scrapped in 2022-23 financial year

Bullet train project gets 100% land five-and-a-half years after first notification

The government has completed 100% acquisition of land for the high-speed rail project between Ahmedabad and Mumbai, after a lengthy process. Railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that 1,389.5 hectares of land have been acquired in Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Dadra and Nagar Haveli. The National High Speed Rail Corporation Ltd (NHSRCL) has made progress in pier casting and girder launching, with the first trial run scheduled for August 2026. Badminton Coach sentenced to 5 year rigorous imprisonment for sexually abusing student

A 27-year-old coach has been sentenced to five years rigorous imprisonment by a special POCSO court for sexually abusing a 10-year-old student during badminton practice. The judge emphasized that slapping and pinching cannot be considered as punishment for mistakes. The victim had been coached by the accused for a month and a half prior to the incident. ED arrests a builder who took Dawood gang help for his projects

Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrests builder Vijay Machindar of Ornate Spaces in a money laundering case. Machindar allegedly sold off seven flats booked in Grove Tower in Oshiwara to others. He received Rs 450 Crores from Punjab National Bank and other bankers for the project. Machindar also raised around Rs 70 crores by selling around 70,000 sq. feet area to 34 purchasers.
