Can't rule out foreign agencies' role in Manipur: Former Army chief Naravane

Involvement of foreign agencies in the ongoing violence in Manipur "cannot be ruled out", former Army chief General MM Naravane (retd) has said, while flagging China's aid to various insurgent groups in the northeast over the decades. Manipur horror: Martyr’s house makes hamlet state’s most protected

A village, half of it burnt down, in Manipur’s Kangpokpi is guarded 24x7 by BSF troops, making it one of the most protected places in the state — because of one special house there. The house in Maphou was home to BSF sub-inspector Paotinsat Guite, killed fighting the Pakistan army on the LoC in J&K on December 1, 2020. He was given a Kirti Chakra in 2022 for his bravery in foiling Pakistan's attempt to push in terrorists. Maphou is the last one remaining in the block. All others were razed.

5 held after video shows 2 women being stripped, assaulted in West Bengal

Five people were arrested after a video surfaced Saturday morning showing a group of women stripping and brutally attacking two other women on the suspicion of stealing money and a female civic volunteer trying unsuccessfully to stop the assault in a weekly village bazaar in Malda subdivision of north Bengal on July 18. The two survivors of the assault in Pakuahat village were also detained and are currently undergoing treatment. Three women were among the five taken into custody.

CUET scores soar, college admissions to get tougher

With more than 22,000 students scoring 100 percentile in the Common University Entrance Test-Undergraduate (CUET-UG) 2023, the competition for undergraduate admissions in the 2023-24 academic year is set to be extremely tough.
