India has noted the developments in Myanmar with "deep concern" and has called for the democratic process to be upheld in the neighboring country. Myanmar's military staged a coup on Monday, detaining de facto leader Aung San Suu Kyi and declaring it had taken control of the country for one year under a state of emergency.

Myanmar's de facto leader Aung San Suu Kyi has been detained by the military, her party spokesman said early Monday. "We heard the President (Win Myint) and State Counsellor (Aung San Suu Kyi) have been detained in Naypyidaw... we heard they were taken by the military," said Myo Nyunt, spokesman for the ruling National League for Democracy.

Government on Sunday issued Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for cinema halls and theatres on preventive measures to contain the spread of Covid-19. Earlier this week, Centre had allowed full occupancy in cinema halls and multiplexes starting from Feb 1.theatres will have separated seats, staggered show timings, and bookings, mandatory social distancing, and digital payments are being encouraged.
