Sunil Arora takes charge as the new Chief Election Commissioner

Sunil Arora is a retired IAS officer who was last month appointed as the new Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) by President Ram Nath Kovind, replacing Om Prakash Rawat. Previously, he was brought in as the Election Commissioner in September 2017, to fill the vacancy created by former CEC Nasim Zaidi's retirement.
